PowerPlus Energy Doubles Battery Testing Capacity

PowerPlus Energy is an Australian manufacturer of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery packs for stationary energy storage applications across the residential, commercial, and industrial markets. As a local manufacturer, we uphold a stringent quality assurance program, including 100% cycle testing of every battery we manufacture.

Comprehensive Battery Testing

Each battery undergoes a rigorous testing cycle of more than five hours to ensure:

  • Full charge to 100% with precise cell balancing
  • Controlled discharge to a safe transport level for simplified commissioning
  • Verification of Battery Management System (BMS) functionality and overall pack integrity
  • Confirmation of thermal performance and expected operational behaviour

This thorough process ensures every unit leaving our facility meets strict performance and safety standards.

Previously, our facility could test only 50 batteries per day on a single shift. As demand accelerated, this created a clear production bottleneck.

100% Increase in Testing Capacity

To support growing demand, three Escape20 solutions incorporating CE+T Sierra inverter modules were developed, fundamentally transforming our factory testing capability. The upgraded Escape20 systems were specifically engineered to enable battery rotation without heavy lifting, protecting both staff and product throughout the testing process.

The new facility now tests 100 batteries per day, keeping pace with peak manufacturing capacity. With strong growth forecast for our modular batteries in the coming years, this new architecture also provides the flexibility to further expand testing capacity as required.

By expanding and modernising our testing infrastructure, production capacity at our Melbourne manufacturing facility has successfully doubled. The upgraded testing environment reinforces our commitment to rigorous quality assurance. It also enables ongoing long-term stress testing of the CE+T Sierra modules used within our Escape20 solutions, further strengthening product reliability in the field.
