BMS protects against improper PCE programming and failures in both charging and discharging, ensuring the most valuable part of the battery system is safeguarded.
Temperature Protection
The BMS protects against extremes of temperature and self-resets after correct temperature range is achieved. Discharging circuits remain operational longer to allow for external heating or cooling.

Can I still buy the Eco4840P for new installations?
No. Eco4840P will continue to be supported for existing installations but is no longer supplied for new projects. LiFe4838P is the recommended replacement.
Can LiFe4838P be used with Eco4840P in the same system?
No. The two batteries use different BMS voltage setpoints, which can lead to uneven charging, circulating currents and inconsistent protection behaviour.
Can LiFe4838P be used with LiFe4838P batteries?
While the BMS is the same, the different capacities can cause uneven utilisation and accelerated wear. For best performance, identical batteries should be used within a system.
Are communication cables required?
No. LiFe4838P operates normally without communication cables. Status contacts can be connected if monitoring is required, but this is optional.
Is LiFe4838P the same size as previous Eco batteries?
Height and depth remain the same. The battery is slightly wider to accommodate higher-density cells but remains compatible with existing racks and cabinets.
Is the status indicator the same as LiFe4838P?
Yes. It provides system status and fault information and should be described as a status indicator rather than an alarm.
