How Our Off-Grid Power Solution Helped a Remote Homeowner Achieve Energy Independence

As the demand for sustainable energy sources grows, more people are turning to off-grid power solutions. One such homeowner located in Toolangi, a remote area about 60 km northeast of Melbourne, needed help with unreliable access to electricity. They needed a solution providing reliable and affordable energy.
Harnessing the sun’s power and using Lithium batteries to store the energy was a game-changer for this remote location in Toolangi.
An Off-grid Independent Power Solution
That’s where our off-grid power solution came in. Local installer, Energy Connections, worked closely with the homeowner to design and implement a customised solution for their unique energy needs. The solution integrated our very own Australian made Lithium batteries, known for their high performance, long lifespan, and low maintenance requirements.
One of the most significant advantages of our off-grid power solution is its ability to provide reliable power in even the most remote locations. This particular homeowner in Toolangi was far from the main power grid, making it difficult and costly to access electricity. With our off-grid power solution, they could generate their power without relying on a centralized power source.
The System
Since the installation’s commissioning in early January 2023, the homeowner has been using the system as intended and putting it through extensive testing (with all the lights and appliances on). The system includes:

- 1 x Victron Quattro 15 kva inverter charger
- 3 x Victron RS 450/100 Mppt,s
- Victron colour control
- Victron BMV712
- 33 x Sunpower 370-watt panels 12.2 K-watts of panels
Integration of Lithium batteries
The Lithium batteries were integrated with solar panels to harness the energy from the sun and store it for later use. This allowed the homeowner to generate their electricity completely independently of the grid. The system was also designed to automatically switch between solar and battery power when needed, ensuring a continuous energy supply.
The benefits of the off-grid power solution were immediately apparent. The homeowner reduced its reliance on fossil fuels and saved money on energy bills. They also gained energy independence, no longer worrying about power outages or interruptions.
The Lithium batteries were a key component of our off-grid power solution, offering many advantages over traditional lead-acid batteries. Lithium batteries are lighter, more compact, and have a longer lifespan than lead-acid batteries. They also require less maintenance and are more efficient at storing and releasing energy.
